Harambe's Achievements
Harambe Restaurant has achieved many things in the years we have been in business. We are proud of how much we have achieved and we hope to continue doing so. Below are our achievements up to date.
2011
On the 16th of July, 2011 I was invited to the African Chamber of Commerce SA awards night in Adelaide, SA, as I was nominated for the 2011 Culinary Excellence Award by AFRICOMSA. I was very excited to be nominated and happy to be recognised by the African Chamber of Commerce for my restaurant and skills as and African chef. The night was a success and I received the award which I was thankful for. It signifies how hard I have worked over the past years to get to this point in my life. I am very humble and grateful to be the recipient of the 2011 Culinary Excellence award.
2009
On the 25th of November 2009, I won the Tin Chef competition representing Harambe Restaurant, my family and my dedicated crew. The 2009 Tin Chef competition held in Melbourne's west was judged by MasterChef’s Matt Preston, Mayor of Maribyrnong Michael Clarke, Mary Ellis, Shirley Billing and 2007/2008 Tin Chef Winner Richenda Pritchard. As the winner of the Tin Chef competition, I am happy and proud to present my Ethiopian traditional food and to get the recognition officially. Melbourne is a mosaic of traditions and cultures from different countries around the world, the addition of Ethiopian cultures and traditional delicious dishes adds to its richness. I would like to thank the Melbourne community and the Big West organizers for giving me the opportunity to be part of this amazing competition which energized me to do my best satisfying the taste buds of my customers.
2007
In 2007, I was given a Small Business Hero award by the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional development. Inspired by this opportunity and the generosity of my family and adoptive community, I have tried my best to achieve more and through this award I see that I have done so. This award means a lot to me as it is my first and its meaningfulness of it does not escape me.
